I have been in
Punta Gorda, Port Charlotte,
Florida,
September to November, and again now the month of January.

the pics are from 9-5-2004 to 10-26-2004, 1-2005 is at the bottom.

Out the window of where I was staying

A typical site as hurricane Ivan was comming

From the SDA church in Punta Gorda

A typical scenery along any road

That would be me, eliminating one more blue roof

Notice the pine tree in the middle with only one row of branches, a common site, either one side or just a trunk

Dry-in complete. My uncle and I put in over 13,000 of those plastic cap nails, Ivan was on the way, (we thought)

This is what is left of the Holiday Inn, the pink building, it is a total loss

I parked my truck at Myaka state park, looked down, looked up, got back in and moved down a few spots

Is that a sweet picture or what

some of my daily companions

Typical, come for lunch and leave right away

This is the point where we went back in January.

We removed the old roofing and took it to the dump.

The dump is a great place to watch birds, and alligators.

Thousands of birds.

There were in the mix, bald eagles, and wood storkes, glossy ibis, and so on.

See that white line on the horizon,

it is getting bigger,

it is the FEMA housing for those who lost it all.

We went to Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary.

An imature little blue heron.

Finally after a couple of years of searching,,, a painted bunting.

This used to be a covering of big trees on the way to the beach at Sanibel Island.

Some art work on the beach.

The roseate spoonbills on J.N."Ding" Darling Preserve, Sanibel Island.

He wants you to think he is napping.

This one told us to leave him alone.

Well this is what I really went there for, and spent most all of my daylight time on,

and this was the evenings; a new floor, and counter.

Too bad I don't have a before picture.

Becky and Aunt Esther

Wouldn't you like to cuddle up too!

We got done what we could and then took a couple of days to vacation.

We went to the keys, this is at Bahia Honda State Park and the old bridge with the osprey on it.

Water,

butterflies,

The Portugese man-o-war jellyfish.

The key deer; they really are as small as they say.

A key house; I guess the water gets pretty high at times.

Pipas.

Silver palm.

and more water.

Ahh supper,

in the back court yard.

See I really was there.

The butterfly conservatory.

Some don't stop for anything,

some are hard to see,

and some are not.

Some will try to suck your brains out.

There are not only butterflies but flowers,

and colorful birds.

This creature has a wingspan of about 10 inches.

Out along the street a huge banyon tree, I don't know how to spell it but now that I have seen one I know what they look like.

Tailgating Florida style.

At some point it is all over and we have to go home.
